Soundgarden was initially formed in 1984 by Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil and Hiro Yamamoto. The pioneers of grunge metal, Soundgarden originated from Seattle, Washington.
After dissolving in 1997 due to some internal issues, the band finally reformed in 2010.
Soundgarden is popularly known for its contribution to the grunge metal genre during the 1990s and influencing artists in the likes of Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Nirvana.

Two years after their reunion in 2010, the group released their sixth album entitled,’ King Animal’.With VH1 ranking Soundgarden at NO. 14 in their 100 Greatest Hard Rock Charts and selling over 25 million records worldwide(as of 2012), the band soon became very popular.
Some of the band’s most notable albums are ‘Ultramega OK’ in 1988,’Louder Than Love’(1989),’Badmotorfinger’(1991),’ Superunknown’(1994),’ Down on The Upside’(1996) and ‘King Animal’(2012).
With their Grammy-nominated tour for Best Metal Performance in 1990, Soundgarden went on to open for bands like Guns N’ Roses and Skid Row in 1992. Some other honorable mentions include names like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ice Cube, Pearl Jam and many more.
The band’s future remains uncertain after the tragic death of their lead vocalist Chris Cornell in2017, despite the band reuniting in 2019 for a tribute concert to Cornell.
