The spoon is an Indie rock band formed in 1993 consisting of current members Vocalist and Guitarist Britt Daniel, Drummer Jim Eno and, Keyboardist and Guitarist Alex Fischel and Guitarist and Keyboardist Gerardo Larios. They debuted with the album titled Telephono in 1996.

The group's 2002 album titled Gimme Fiction debuted on No 44 on Billboard 200 and sold more than 160,000 copies. Their 2007 album Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga was critically acclaimed and peaked at No ten on Billboard 200. On October 6, 2007, they were the musical guests for Saturday Night Live where they performed the title track for the said album, The Underdog and You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb.

They went on to perform in shows like Late Show with David Letterman, Last Call with Carson Daly, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, PBS show Austin City Limits and The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. They have also been ranked Top overall artist of the decade by Metacritic based on their high review score between 2000 and 2009.

Spoon's seventh album Transference released in 2010 debuted at No 4 in the Billboard 200 and placed at number 22 in Rolling stone's list of 30 best albums of 2010. Their eighth album released in 2014 They want my soul was also universally acclaimed by critics. On 2017 the group released their ninth album Hot thoughts which went on to peak at No 17 on the Billboard 200.
